This is the 8th installment in the Second Chance mystery series。 Sarah Grayson runs Second Chance which is a resale shop in which sells used and refurbished items along with her rescue cat Elvis (Elvis is in the building !)。 There is a detective agency of senior ladies called Charlotte’s Angels (Liz, Rose, Charlotte along with Mr。 P (surrogate Bosley)) who also reside in her shop and they are on the case of sabotage at cat shows along the Atlantic Coast。 They need a cat and owner to go undercover and Sarah and Elvis fit the bill。 Sarah meets other cat owners including Debra and her friend Christina who fill her in on the ins and outs of the show world。 When Christina is found dead in her apartment there is some question whether it was accidental or intentional Sarah wants to find justice for her new friend。 This is a delightful read。 I have not read all in the series but this did impact the joy of the read。 The Angels are so with it and provide such a charm to the story。 Cozies succeed because of the quality of the relationships and this is key to this series。 I need to go back and figure out which ones I have not read and add to my TBR pile。

"Undercover Kitty" is a cozy mystery。 It's the eighth book in the series, but you don't need to read the previous books to understand this one。 This book did not spoil any of the previous mysteries。 The main characters were nice, engaging people。 The cat was mainly the excuse for being at the cat show and played little role in the detection of whodunit。 More time was spent describing the cat show than on doing actual detection。 The mystery was a clue-based puzzle mystery。 The amateur detectives "Undercover Kitty" is a cozy mystery。 It's the eighth book in the series, but you don't need to read the previous books to understand this one。 This book did not spoil any of the previous mysteries。 The main characters were nice, engaging people。 The cat was mainly the excuse for being at the cat show and played little role in the detection of whodunit。 More time was spent describing the cat show than on doing actual detection。 The mystery was a clue-based puzzle mystery。 The amateur detectives asked questions and looked into various alibis。 My main problem was that the fire didn't seem to actually destroy anything, even allowing the investigators to determine the exact type of "kindling" used to start the fire。 Also, the initial clues greatly restricted the possible suspects for the murderer, though none of the investigators seemed to notice this。 They also seemed especially dense when a major clue was dropped by a suspect。 The readers' were going, "Oh, whodunit!" but Sarah's going "um, seems like I should be able to put this together by now, but I'm just not sure。。。"There were no sex scenes。 There was only one use of bad language。 Overall, I'd recommend this enjoyable mystery, but it's my least favorite of the series。I received an ebook review copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley。 。。。more

I received an ARC from Net Galley in exchange for my honest review。 This is one of my favorite cozy mysteries series of all time。 Sarah, Elvis, and the Angels are on another case。 Rose and Mr。 P ask for Elvis' assistance on this case and he doesn't hesitate to help。 This book partly take place at a few cat shows。 I just so happen to be part of the cat show circuit in my area in real life。 I can say without hesitation Sofie Ryan got the cat show scenes completely right。 While reading this book I I received an ARC from Net Galley in exchange for my honest review。 This is one of my favorite cozy mysteries series of all time。 Sarah, Elvis, and the Angels are on another case。 Rose and Mr。 P ask for Elvis' assistance on this case and he doesn't hesitate to help。 This book partly take place at a few cat shows。 I just so happen to be part of the cat show circuit in my area in real life。 I can say without hesitation Sofie Ryan got the cat show scenes completely right。 While reading this book I had flashbacks of past cat shows I had attended which were all great memories。 There are plenty of scenes with all of the Angels and their quirky personalities。 There were a few mysteries to solve in this one and I was guessing until the end who the culprit was, how they did it, and why they did it。 There were quite a few recipes in here that I want to try to make and one food that I will steer clear of。 You'll get why I say that after you read this book。 It was a thoroughly enjoyable read and I can't wait for the next book in the series to come out。 。。。more

I enjoy a good Sofie Ryan cozy。 This is the eighth in the series that I have not read in order。 When I picked up this one, I noticed I missed the previous one and was pleasantly surprised and Mac and Sarah’s budding relationship。I enjoyed learning about cat shows。 The mystery kept me turning the pages and even though I was not surprised by who did it, I did relish each twist and turn。I felt a specific question may have shortened the investigation and was surprised that none of the investigating I enjoy a good Sofie Ryan cozy。 This is the eighth in the series that I have not read in order。 When I picked up this one, I noticed I missed the previous one and was pleasantly surprised and Mac and Sarah’s budding relationship。I enjoyed learning about cat shows。 The mystery kept me turning the pages and even though I was not surprised by who did it, I did relish each twist and turn。I felt a specific question may have shortened the investigation and was surprised that none of the investigating team thought to ask it。I was given an advanced copy by Netgalley。 I am not required to leave a positive review。 。。。more

I've read every book in the Second Chance cozy mystery series and was thrilled that a new one was releasing this year。 Ms。 Ryan's stories are always a delight to read。Elvis and Sarah go undercover at a cat show and pet expo to help Charlotte's Angels find a saboteur。 Unfortunately before the investigation is completed, one of volunteers is murdered which added a new dimension to the investigation。 Ms。 Ryan's characters are now well developed and Sarah, Mac, Charlotte, Liz, Rose, Avery and Mr。 P。 I've read every book in the Second Chance cozy mystery series and was thrilled that a new one was releasing this year。 Ms。 Ryan's stories are always a delight to read。Elvis and Sarah go undercover at a cat show and pet expo to help Charlotte's Angels find a saboteur。 Unfortunately before the investigation is completed, one of volunteers is murdered which added a new dimension to the investigation。 Ms。 Ryan's characters are now well developed and Sarah, Mac, Charlotte, Liz, Rose, Avery and Mr。 P。 are all close friends that I look forward to spending time with as they solve the mysteries。 The story is quickly paced, the twists and red herrings kept me guessing and there were many viable suspects。 I kept questioning whether the sabotage and the murder were connected even though Sarah and the Angels seemed to think they were。 Elvis was his usual lovable self and I wasn't surprised that he strutted his stuff at the cat show。 After all, he is "the King"。 I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book from Berkley via NetGalley。 Thank you Berkley for approving my request。 All of the above opinions are my own。 。。。more

In this book Sarah and Elvis go undercover at a cat show。。 I really liked this light hearted cozy mystery。 The characters are sweet and realistic。 The twists kept throwing me off。 I could not guess the killer correctly。 I was always thinking of the wrong person。 I did not expect the killer to be that person。 If you like clever cozies than this is the series for you。

Maybe it is because this is the first book I have read in the established series, but I found it a bit mediocre。 However, it was mainly because of the lack of character development, which I probably would have gotten had I started from the beginning of the series。 Yes, it can be a stand alone cutely decent mystery, but it's probably best to at least start with book one。 Because it's not a satisfying stand alone book, I give it 3 stars。 Probably better rated by those who have read the whole serie Maybe it is because this is the first book I have read in the established series, but I found it a bit mediocre。 However, it was mainly because of the lack of character development, which I probably would have gotten had I started from the beginning of the series。 Yes, it can be a stand alone cutely decent mystery, but it's probably best to at least start with book one。 Because it's not a satisfying stand alone book, I give it 3 stars。 Probably better rated by those who have read the whole series。 。。。more

Enjoyable, but not the strongest entry in the series。 The mystery takes second place to the relationships between the characters。 That's not a bad thing, and it's why this author's series are among my top five favorites cozies。 Most of the character growth occurs two of the minor characters, and it's nice that we got to see the whole gang in action。There was such emphasis on one of the plot devices that I was perplexed that none of the amateur sleuths asked the obvious question when the item was Enjoyable, but not the strongest entry in the series。 The mystery takes second place to the relationships between the characters。 That's not a bad thing, and it's why this author's series are among my top five favorites cozies。 Most of the character growth occurs two of the minor characters, and it's nice that we got to see the whole gang in action。There was such emphasis on one of the plot devices that I was perplexed that none of the amateur sleuths asked the obvious question when the item was found at the site of a death。 The book would have been at least a third shorter if any of them had asked, though, so I'm glad they didn't。Nice story with the spotlight on Elvis (as it should be), who once again helps solve the crime and who saves the day。I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more
